When We Two Parted

這是上英文演講課,為小組活動準備的資料。
 
這裡準備兩份視聽資料:一是LibriVox提供的聲音檔(mp3格式,點擊詩的標題即可下載)。這個網站很有趣,裡面提供大量的免費有聲書聲音檔案下載,特別是裡面每一位讀書人都是自願的將其讀書檔案貢獻出來分享,挺有意義的。另一是在YouTube裡面找到的畫面檔案。我把他做成影片檔(mpeg格式)放在這裡,從右邊的Windows Media Player即可欣賞。
 
When We Two Parted

When we two parted
In silence and tears,
Half broken-hearted
To sever for years,
Pale grew thy cheek and cold,
Colder thy kiss;
Truly that hour foretold
Sorrow to this.
 
The dew of the morning
Sunk chill on my brow —
It felt like the warning
Of what I feel now.
Thy vows are all broken,
And light is thy fame;
I hear thy name spoken,
And share in its shame.
 
They name thee before me,
A knell to mine ear;
A shudder comes o’er me —
Why wert thou so dear?
They know not I knew thee,
Who knew thee too well: —
Long, long shall I rue thee,
Too deeply to tell.
 
In secret we met —
In silence I grieve,
That thy heart could forget,
Thy spirit deceive.
If I should meet thee
After long years,
How should I greet thee? —
With silence and tears.
 
 
詩人簡介(取自城邦圖書館
 
拜倫(Byron,1788-1824)英國十九世紀浪漫主義詩人,可說是雪萊的傳承者。拜倫的血脈中兼有狂烈的因子,與高貴的血統。他的父親為諾曼地貴族,母親是司徒亞特王朝的後裔,然而拜倫年幼時,卻跟著母親在蘇格蘭過貧困的生活,直到10歲時,伯祖父去世沒有子嗣,拜倫就繼承了拜倫男爵的稱號,與紐斯台德寺院、羅岱爾兩處房產與兩千多畝土地。拜倫無疑是一個倨傲不群的寂寞英雄與熱血狂熱的革命家,他對世間醜惡現象的深惡痛絕與孤傲寡和的性格,使他不見容於英國偽善的社會,終於憤而離開祖國,投身希臘的獨立運動,最後死於愛琴海。
 
在拜倫的詩中,我們可以看出一位記驕傲孤縱而又憂鬱孤絕,喜好冒險、追求真理不遺餘力的多重性格的詩人,他雖被一群自稱為「正道人士」的人放逐,卻能保有笑傲江湖、任俠尚義的生命態度,他用個人的力量去衡量人世,打擊不義,踰越世俗的規範,純真的揭發虛偽社會的道德假象。

    我也不知道写给谁的,只觉得还不错~
    我一向很喜欢拜伦的诗的~呵呵~
